Pottery of the Second Intermediate Period
In the Second Intermediate Period Egypt was divided into two or more political units. This political division is also visible in the production of pottery. There are three main regions in this period: the Eastern Delta which is very much under Palestine influence. Middle Egypt including the Memphis region and Upper Egypt. In the Memphis region the pottery of the Second Intermediate Period follows the Middle Kingdom tradition.
'Tell el Yahudiyeh ware' was imported from Western Asia at the end of the Middle Kingdom. The ware was later also produced in Egypt.
