Memphis: Terracotta UC 33447

Terracotta figurine of woman. Seated with legs drawn up and apart, broken off at knees. The right hand points to the vagina. The interpretation of this and similar figures is still under discussion. The gesture of the woman is perhaps magical and intended to influence female fertility.
