Furniture in Roman Egypt: metal parts

More expensive beds (and other furniture) were often decorated with metal fittings. The bronze parts are always decorative external fittings, because they are never strong enough to support a whole bed or chair. An inner iron rod was used for the core.

Bronze fittings probably from furniture (caps for a furniture legs). UC 56472 is solid cast.
