Cattle as provider of beef and milk

The taste and quality of beef could be changed by different kind of feeding. Some bulls seems to have been fattened on purpose. Cattle seem to have been allowed to graze in open fields, many of them in the Delta. Cattle were slain by binding the legs and then cutting the throats with a knife. Cows were also providers of milk, which is attested since the 4th millennium BC. However ethnographic evidence suggests that the milk production was quite low.
