Fayum Neolithic: Kom K shew pits/silos

The pits found at Kom K were silos for storing grain or wheat. Fifty-six were lined with coiled straw (compare basketry), in different states of preservation. In some cases only the imprint of matting survived. The silos ranged in size from 1.5 m to 0.3 m. The majority were between 0.9 to 1.2 m in diameter and between 0.3 to 06. m in depth.
