Abydos, tomb 817

date: (late ?) Middle Kingdom (about 2025-1700 BC), Twelfth Dynasty

The tomb is not fully published. For a reconstruction is only the tomb card available. The tomb was found undisturbed. It had two chambers; one in the north (with the body of a woman and a child) and one in the south (with the bodies of a man and a woman). Traces of wood are mentioned. They must belong to a coffin; but it is not stated to which body it belonged.

Finds not in the Petrie Museum: a mirror

measurements: the shaft is 4.34 m deep; 1.82 x 2.38 (north chamber), 1.6 x 2.2 m (south chamber) - the roof of each chamber was destroyed
