Public Engagement

Prof. Chris Owen explaining magnetic fields at the Royal Society

The Space Plasma Physics group is actively involved in MSSL's outreach programme. Members of the group are happy to talk to schools and interested societies about the work we do and the science of the magnetosphere. In the past, we have given talks on:

  • Space Weather and the Sun-Earth connection
  • The aurora borealis (northern lights)
  • The interaction between space plasmas and radio waves
  • Space plasma missions

We also lead the Cluster: Aurora Explorer exhibit at Science Live!, the 2011 Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition.
