An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrative Assistant to join the Department of Space and Climate Physics (Mullard Space Science Laboratory). The successful candidate will work as part of a vibrant administrative team which comprises 11 people and will be based at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory in Holmbury St Mary. The appointee will also liaise with the administrative, teaching and academic staff based on the main UCL campus in Bloomsbury.

The post is initially funded for two years and is expected to continue after this period pending funding.

The Mullard Space Science Laboratory is located on its own campus in the beautiful Surrey Hills, surrounded by woodland. MSSL is the UK's largest university space research group. Space science is a discipline that demands highly innovative technologies and MSSL has an international reputation for excellence in this area. UCL was one of the first universities in the world to become involved in making scientific observations in space. Since MSSL was established in 1966, we have participated in over 40 satellite missions with the European Space Agency, NASA (US), Japan, Russia, China and India, and flown over 230 rocket experiments.

Main purpose of the job

The post holder will provide administrative support to all the departmental staff and students and will undertake general office duties, working as part of the administrative team in the general support of the Department’s function.

Job Title: Administrative Assistant
Grade: 5, full-time or part-time (for part-time, there is a requirement that the appointee comes into work five days a week, 9.00-3.00, although the exact timings can be negotiated)
Salary: £20,989 to £24,285 per annum (pro-rata for part-time staff). The post is initially funded for two years and is expected to continue after this period pending funding.
Location: The post is based at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, located in Holmbury St Mary, near Dorking in Surrey
