"Understanding the relationship between climate change and the formation of landslides in the Three Gorges area"

This research aims to (1)Assess the potential and limitations of existing and future  space-borne SAR sensors to map differential motion for heavily forested, steep-sided terrain, focusing on the Three Gorges Region in China where landslides are associated with heavy rainfall and light sedimentary soils. Both Interferometric SAR (InSAR) and sub-pixel correlation method will be used concentrating on TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X. (2) Perform an assessment of the climatic impacts of the construction and operation of the Three Gorges Dam;(3)Understanding the relationship of the regional climate changes and the formation of landslides.
