GUIDELINES FOR CORRECT REGISTRATION ON MANAGEMENT MODULES 2011/12

Module selection & registration

Students are advised to register as early as possible on Portico for any management module they wish to take as an option or elective in 2011/12. For the most part we will accept students on our optional/elective modules on a first come first served basis according to the date of selection on Portico. Places may be limited on some modules depending on room constraints.

Students are encouraged to visit us during Induction Week to discuss their possible module selections and to obtain up-to-date course outlines and a copy of the MS&I Student Guidelines. The MS&I Student Administration team will be available to meet students in the department throughout Induction Week September 26 – September 30 from 10.00 – 16.00. We are located on the 1st floor of the Engineering Front Building, opposite Waterstone’s.

(Students are also advised to discuss any doubts regarding timetabling or options with their parent departments.)

Special note:  Once registered on Portico all students taking MSIN3001/M001/G001 Project Management MUST complete their registration by logging onto Moodle (https://moodle.ucl.ac.uk/login/) and selecting the term in which they will be taking the module (Group A in term 1; Group B or D in term 2). We will send the enrolment key required for Moodle registration to all students who are correctly registered on Portico. Students will normally be assigned on a first come first served basis unless a department has pre-selected the group. (Note: groups C and E are reserved for students on specific programmes).

Timetables

All students are recommended to refer to the online timetable for details of module timings and locations. Note that this information is subject to change so students are advised to check regularly.

For modules which have weekly seminars, students will ordinarily be allocated by the automated system based on individual timetables. Any deviations from this system will be made clear by the relevant module organiser at the start of the course.

Resits

All students who failed one or more Management modules in 2010/11 and who intend to resit or repeat those modules should make themselves known to the Departmental Administrator, Michelle Tinsley, during Induction Week or by email (m.tinsley@ucl.ac.uk) before the start of term.

Documentation

All students must obtain a copy of the MSI guidlines at the start of the year.  Hard copies will be available from the MSI student reception or students can download a copy from our website from September.

Revised course outlines will be available before and during Induction Week. All students should obtain the course outlines for the modules they will be taking in 2011/12. These can be collected from the MSI Student Reception or downloaded from our website here [download].

The deadline for completion of student module selections on PORTICO is Friday October 7th.
