MSING004: Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice
This course enables students to identify and assess
business
opportunities. The aim of the course is to give an understanding
of
strategies for the assessment of a new business opportunity along
with
techniques for effective business planning to secure the
necessary
resources, including finance.The course introduces frameworks to
assess
and to mitigate key risks to new ventures including those relating
to
personnel, markets and technologies.
The course requires students
to:
. Identify a range of potential businesses opportunities
. Make a
rational and reasoned selection of one opportunity worthy of
further
investigation
. Conduct macro and micro analyses of candidate markets and
industries
. Assess the likely viability of the chosen opportunity
.
Present oral and written assessments of these findings
