Mihaela Stan's Biography
Mihaela is Assistant Professor of Strategy in the Department
of Management Science and Innovation (MS&I) where she teaches
“Communication and Behaviour in Organizations”. Her current research focuses on the links between formal structures,
organizational learning, and adaptation. More broadly, she is interested in
understanding how attributes of the organizational context shape learning
outcomes.
Prior to joining UCL, Mihaela pursued a Ph.D. in Strategic
and International Management from the London
Business School
and an MBA from Brigham Young University
in United States.
While a graduate student, she was involved in teaching a summer school course
in Strategic Management at the London School of Economics, and was awarded the
Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission.
Mihaela’s current research activities focus on organizational
design, organizational learning and creativity, and strategic decision making,
with an emphasis on the healthcare sector and a special interest in assisted
reproduction technologies. More specifically, she conducts research on how
organizations are structuring teams to draw on existing knowledge, to enhance
creativity, and to foray into the unknown.
Mihaela is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM), the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) and the British Fertility Society (BFS).
