Gillian Lacey-Solymar's Teaching
Entrepreneurship is the engine of economic growth. This course focuses on the elements of entrepreneurship that will allow the students to ascertain whether starting a new venture may be the right path for them. In that spirit it covers creativity; the difference between simply a new idea and a true business opportunity, how to finance the venture, how to build the team and then models to grow the new business into a serious venture. Whilst many students take the course to develop the tools of entrepreneurship, others simply want to think in a more entrepreneurial way albeit within the safety of a blue-chip environment. The course presents both academic frameworks and practical tools to encourage a more entrepreneurial outlook, as well as practical views on founding a new company.
It is held in conjunction with guest lectures from leading entrepreneurs which Gillian also comperes. The lectures and guest speeches combine to make this a course of practical and academic substance.
