UCL Women in Management society deliver workshop for UCL Academy students

7 April 2014

On Monday 24th March 2014, members of the MS&I founded Women in Management (WiM) society hosted an interactive workshop for a group of 48 young female pupils aged 11-13 years old at UCL Academy. UCL Academy, which opened in September 2012, is the first university sponsored school in the UK with ground breaking curriculum ambitions.

MS&I students Patricia Fay, Sandra Ofosu- Koree, Tashnika Stewart, Camille Charbit & Sunyoung Ro shared with the pupils what Women in Management do as a society. They discussed the pupils' aspirations around higher education and careers and then in small groups, each led by a WiM representative, pupils made a poster to answer the question " What is your dream job? ". They then presented to the larger group at the end, giving each pupil a turn to speak and share.

Women in Management received very positive feedback from UCL Academy staff about how much the girls enjoyed this event and how wonderful it was to see some of the very shy students stepping up during the presentations. This workshop is a true testament of UCL WiM's mission in action - Inspire, Inform, Train & Connect and also an excellent example of collaboration between UCL and UCL Academy.
