What careers support is provided for IMB students?
We offer our IMB students the advantage of a bespoke careers programme in addition to that available as a member of the wider UCL student body.
A number of the sectors popular with IMB students are those where employers identify talented students at a very early stage of their degree. The bespoke IMB programme recognises this with a series of tailored workshops, employer events and one-to-one careers coaching across all years of the course.
What are the strengths of the IMB careers programme?
There are 3 strengths to the IMB careers programme
- Exclusive access to the Management Science & Innovation (MS&I) careers team;
- The employer links through the E-Skills Network; and
- UCL’s strong employer links.
The dedicated MS&I careers team
IMB students have exclusive access to experienced careers consultants with industry experience to support you through every stage of the recruitment process. The careers team provide you with opportunities for:
- One-to-one coaching;
- Tailored skills workshops; and
- Exclusive events and employer networking opportunities (e.g. the Deloitte mentoring programme).
The strength of the E-Skills network
Through E-Skills, IMB has links with over 60 employers. E-Skills arranges careers fairs, internships and graduate opportunities only open to E-Skills linked universities; and the calibre of the students on UCL’s IMB course makes it a key target for employers from across the E-Skills network and beyond.
UCL’s strong employer links
In addition to the exclusive IMB programme, you will have
access to the full range of UCL careers and employer led sessions open to the
wider UCL student body.
What can I expect as an IMB student?
Tailored workshops and employer events
Throughout your IMB degree, you will have a series of opportunities to engage with a wide range of employers and to develop the career management skills necessary in an interactive global economy.
The careers programme provides both insights into the wide range of sectors open to you and tailored workshops to provide you with the skills you need to perform at your best at all stages of the graduate recruitment process.
In 2012/2013, the employers we worked with included IBM,
Deutsche Bank, Accenture, PA Consulting, Capgemini, CapCo and Procter &
Gamble. For more information click here.
The bespoke programme includes:
Workshops and one-to-one coaching designed to assist you in securing Insight Internships.
Second Year internships are one of the principal ways by which
employers in the most competitive sectors secure the talented students they
need. As a result, there is a strong
focus on the support you need to secure internships; with a series of dedicated
skills based workshops and alumni panel events.
Third Year and MSCi
The focus in the third year is on providing you with opportunities to engage with employers through a wide range of events, including employer led interactive sessions, presentations, employer CV checking and mock interviews.
