UCL Mitochondria project wins 2011 SET for Britain Award
22 March 2011
Warmest congratulations to Miss Talia Atkin of the UCL Research Department of Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology (NPP), who struck Gold, and a prize of £3,000, at a competition in the House of Commons for the excellence of her scientific research.

Talia
presented her biological research to more than one hundred politicians and a
panel of expert judges, as part of SET for Britain, on 14
March. The research, which looks at the underlying causes of schizophrenia, was
judged against 59 other short-listed biologists’ work. SET for Britain aims to help politicians understand more about the UK’s thriving science base and rewards some of the strongest scientific research being undertaken in the UK.
