Centre for Obesity Research

The Centre for Obesity Research is a newly established centre (January 2010) led by Rachel Batterham. The main goal of the Centre is to gain a greater understanding of the factors that cause obesity and type 2 diabetes with the ultimate aim of identifying new preventative and therapeutic strategies for these conditions. In particular, the Centre has a strong interest in gut hormones. The Centre takes a ‘bench to bedside’ approach using a wide range of approaches from generating mouse transgenic models through to complex in vivo studies in healthy volunteers and patients.
