Academics within the Centre for Clinical Pharmacology are actively involved in running and teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate courses across 3 different Faculties at UCL.

These include:

  • MBBS programme
  • BSc and MSc/MRes programmes run in the Division of Medicine (Faculty of Biomedicine)
  • BSc modules run in the Division of Biosciences (e.g. Biochemistry of Cardiovascular Disease, Faculty Life Sciences)
  • MSc run within the Institute of Cardiovascular Science (Population Health Sciences).

Prof Lucie Clapp is director of Heart & Circulation (PHOL3002), a 30 credit Module which she co-organises with Dr Nephtali Marina-Gonzalez, where 3rd year BSc students alongside intercalating medical students and MSc students learn contemporary views on the physiology and pathophysiology of the heart and vasculature.

The course taken by 80 students is a series of lectures, tutorials & lab-based practicals where basic mechanisms at the systems, organ and cellular level are explored and related to the treatment of cardiovascular disease in humans.
In conjunction with this, Prof Clapp is part of the organising committee and chair of the exam board for the newly created MSc in Cardiovascular sciences (MEDGC012), which take PHOL3002 as a core module and is a co-applicant on the 4 Year British Heart Foundation PhD programme which currently runs until 2017.
