Centre for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics
The Centre for Clinical Pharmacology has a strong research base, runs
successful undergraduate and postgraduate courses and provides a
clinical service to the hospitals associated with UCL. Most of the
research is in the field of cardiovascular science but there are also
groups working on inflammation and on mechanisms of obesity. The centre
comprises independent groups led by senior scientists. Each has its own
flavour and direction, but there is a common theme of exploring basic
molecular mechanisms of drug action, identification of new drug
targets, and the use of drugs to explore physiology and
pathophysiology. The work of the centre integrates closely with other
research themes in the Division of Medicine and there are projects that
cross centres, departments and faculties within UCL. We have created an
environment in which research questions can be explored from molecule
to man and back again.
