Teaching & Professional Development Unit

The Teaching and Professional Development Unit is a unit within the Academic Centre for Medical Education (ACME) responsible for a range of staff development initiatives and courses for teachers involved in delivering the MBBS programme at UCL Medical School.

The remit of the TPDU includes the delivery of the teaching training (TIPS) project, associated short courses; the one to one training of individual teachers, support on curriculum development and the support and training of students who act as peer tutors in the MBBS programme.

The TPDU works with a range of postgraduate groups on a consultancy basis providing training and support for foundation school programmes, doctors in training and other healthcare professionals, GP and consultant educators. As well as teacher training and professional development in education this includes specialist communication skills, team working, appraisal, professional development, risk and complaints management, ethics and law in clinical practice and leadership skills.
