Welcome to the North Central Thames Foundation School

The North Central Thames Foundation School (NCTFS) is a Foundation School of the London Deanery and UCL Medical School. The school co-ordinates the allocation process to Foundation Year 1 (F1) and Foundation Year 2 (F2), and supports the delivery of Foundation Programme and the development of Foundation Trainees.

The Foundation Programme is a 2-year generic training programme designed for medical school graduates. The programme forms the bridge between medical school and specialist/general practice training.

NCTFS has 310 standard 2-year Foundation Training Programmes in five London Deanery and four Eastern Deanery NHS Trusts, as well as 22 Academic 2-year Foundation Training Programmes located in London Deanery NHS Trusts.

We are committed to providing high quality Foundation Training in all our linked NHS Trusts, and together we are working towards the GMC Standards for Training for the Foundation Programme.

Careers “Webinar” on 12th June 2012 for F1s “Webinars” are live, interactive seminars delivered over the web. Please complete the registration form if you would like to book a place for the next 45-minute session (delivered in the early evening so that you can access it from home).
GMC National Training Survey 2012 This year, Foundation trainees will complete the National Training Survey through 'GMC Online'. Trainees are advised to simply log on and complete the survey any time between 30 April and 15 June. Please click here for more information.
Minimum score guaranteeing a place in NCTFS for entry in August 2012 Candidates are informed of their overall score, by UKFPO, when they are allocated to a Foundation School. The results were released on 8 December 2011. We can confirm that applicants scoring 81 or above (out of 100) were successful in gaining a place in NCTFS.

Royal Society of Medicine meetings and courses For forthcoming trainee meetings and courses, visit the Royal Society of Medicine website. All courses have limited numbers and are booked quite quickly.
Faculty development courses The London Deanery is engaged in a number of ongoing collaborations with specialty Colleges to provide specialty-specific training days, particularly in the areas of workplace-based assessment and educational supervision. See the London Deanery website for details.
