Clinical trials

Medical Illustration provides a comprehensive service to support clinical trials.

With many years' experience of recording clinical conditions and physical capabilities in carefully controlled studio conditions, our photographers are well equipped to provide serial recordings from which assessment of efficacy can be judged. We are experienced in developing recording protocols for a wide range of activities both single-site projects based at the Royal Free and international multi-site trials. Using special imaging techniques and equipment, we are also able to provide detailed records of the operation of delivery devices or other equipment. We have developed a number of novel recording methods and equipment and specialise in custom solutions tailored to each client's individual needs.

Our highly skilled photographers are Registered Medical Illustration Practitioners and are bound by the Institute of Medical Illustrators' Code of Professional Practice.

Any information we are given in the course of each trial, including details of any pharmaceutical preparation or delivery devices, is kept completely confidential. All recordings are produced in-house using the latest technology which allows us to keep complete control over quality and security. All recordings and other data are kept on secure servers and an audit trail is maintained for every image.

The award winning Medical Illustration Unit provides a wide range of services for the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust and the UCL Medical School, Royal Free Campus. We also welcome private and external commisions and have a growing number of satisfied private clients.
