Clinical Photography
Medical Illustration Unit provides a clinical
photographic service for recording the condition and treatment of
patients. Photography is carried out by professionally trained staff and where possible will take place in the fully equipped studio
located within the unit. A choice of male or female photographer is usually available on request if the patient has a preference. Photography can also be undertaken on wards,
in clinics, on location and in the operating theatre; all of which
can usually be arranged at short notice.
For Royal Free Hospital patients, a clinical photography form (RF267) must accompany
requests for photography with both the patients' signature and that
of the clinician seeking consent. The service is open on weekdays from 9.30-16.30
and no appointment is necessary for patients visiting the studio. Please ring extension 33600 to arrange for a photographer to visit a patient in clinic or on the ward.
Medical Illustration would be pleased to accept patients from local General Practitioners and from physicians and surgeons in private practice. Please ring 020 7830 2357 to discuss our services and costs or to arrange an appointment.
All patients will be provided with a full explanation of the procedure necessary to obtain the photographs that have been requested and told what will happen to their images. All work is treated with discretion,
confidentiality and carried out in accordance with the Institute
of Medical Illustrators’, Code of Professional Practice.
