Award for London’s best medical student

A medical student from UCL Medical School has won the highly prestigious University of London Gold Medal.   Melanie Jensen was the successful winner of the annual competition for London medical school students.

A UCL medical student on a psychotherapy training programme run at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C & I) has won a national prize for the best essay examining the doctor-patient relationship.

Medical student volunteer wins Team London Award

MBBS student, Callum Donaldson won this year’s Team London Award for ‘Mentoring and Coaching’ for his work with Spectrum, who provide a buddying service for children with disabilities in Camden.  Callum has been involved with Spectrum for five years, since his first year of medical school – providing consistent support to a child with autism throughout that time

RUMS rugby team win the United Hospitals Cup!

We are delighted to announce that, after no less than 128 years of waiting, the Medical School Men’s Rugby team are once again winners of the United Hospitals Cup.

Masters level credited modules available

As part of our Masters level portfolio we have a series of blended and distance learning modules that we are pleased to offer as standalone credit bearing modules, CPD or to be used towards a PG Cert/Dip/MSc in Clinical and Professional Education with UCL Medical School.

New UCL Cruciform Hub officially opens

The Cruciform Hub was officially opened by Professor Jane Dacre, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Dr Deborah Gill, Interim Director of the UCL Medical School, on 15 January 2015.

Art launch at the Whittington Undergraduate Centre

On the 1st of December 2014 we held our UCL Medical School Undergraduate Centre art launch where paintings were created by local artist Nicole Price and officially launched by Professor Jane Dacre.

UCL Hospital Fun Team recently won best group in the ‘My Community’ category at the Team London ‘My Community’ Award at a ceremony at City Hall.

Cruciform Hub Now Open!

After a year-long refurbishment, the UCL Cruciform Hub is open from Monday 1st September 2014.  The Cruciform Library, Cluster and Seminar Rooms have been refurbished to create a welcoming and vibrant space at the heart of Gower Street.

Provost’s Public Engagement Awards

Dr Jayne Kavanagh is the winner of the 'Engager of the Year (researcher/academic grade 8 and above)' award, one of the Provost’s Public Engagement Awards.  Jayne was nominated for this award for her leading role in creating and running the Beacon-funded 2013/14 project ‘Stories from the soul: doctors’ choices, women’s lives’

Jane Dacre holds first MRCP PACES in Myanmar

This November, Professor Jane Dacre led the very first PACES for MRCP (Member of the Royal College of Physicians) in Myanmar. This was successfully held in New Yangon General Hospital, one of the teaching hospitals of the University of Medicine, Yangon.

UCLMS Social Media Policy

Social media has become a powerful part of the web in recent years and has changed the way we communicate and collaborate online.  Many organisations, such as the GMC and the BMA, politicians and medical journals are actively using social media and discussions of various aspects of the professional lives of doctors are increasingly seen on Facebook, Twitter and blogs.
