Welcome to the North Central and East London Foundation School
The North Central Thames Foundation School (NCTFS) has now merged with the North East Thames Foundation School (NETFS) to form the North Central and East London Foundation School (NCELFS). It is a Foundation School of Health Education North Central and East London (HENCEL) linked to UCL Medical School (UCLMS) and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (Barts).
For August 2018, NCELFS is offering training programmes at the following NHS Trusts:
- The Royal London, St. Bartholomew's and Mile End Hospitals
- Newham University Hospital
- Whipps Cross University Hospital
The school co-ordinates the allocation process to Foundation Year 1 (F1) and Foundation Year 2 (F2), and supports the delivery of the Foundation Programme and the development of foundation trainees.
The Foundation Programme is a two-year generic training programme designed for medical school graduates. The programme forms the bridge between medical school and Specialty/General Practice training.
For August 2017 entry NCTFS offered 185 training places across four London Trusts:
- 164 standard two-year programmes across five hospitals in the London area
- 21 academic two-year programmes across five hospitals in the London area
NCTFS is committed to providing high quality foundation training in all linked hospitals, and working together towards the GMC standards for training for the Foundation Programme.
MERGER OF NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTH EAST THAMES, MOVE TO HEALTH EDUCATION ENGLAND (HEE) AND NEW CONTACT DETAILS
The North Central Thames Foundation School is merging with the North East Thames Foundation School from 1st April 2017
following the move of our posts in East of England Trusts to the new
Essex, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire (EBH) Foundation School. The new
organisation will be called the North Central and East London Foundation School.
In addition, North Central and North East are moving out of
their university offices in UCL and QMUL respectively to be housed
within the London offices of Health Education England (HEE) in Russell

Allocations to Foundation Schools released (August 2017 entry)
Candidates are informed of their overall score by UKFPO, when they are allocated to a Foundation School. For posts starting in August 2017, anyone applying to this school and scoring 86.57 or above was successful in gaining a place. More
