Title: The Smart Liver Project - Image Guided, Augmented Reality, Laparoscopic Liver Surgery

Abstract: In this talk I will present a summary of the Smart Liver project, and how it was taken from the lab to a patient feasibility study at the Royal Free Hospital. I will
describe an overview of the system, including system calibration, surface reconstruction and registration of pre-operative CT data to intra-operative video. Having spent some time in the operating room, it became apparent that more work must be done on visualisation and ease of use. I will present the latest developments of the system, including new work in ultrasound based registration, view planning and evaluation of accuracy.
