Development of robots for micro-surgery: mechatronics and image-guidance

Abstract:

My team is developing image-guided surgical robots that aim to enhance human dexterity and precision. Our particular focus is on the creation of micro-precise instrumentation that under image-guidance assists ophthalmologists with the delivery of novel regenerative therapies within the human eye. In collaboration with our clinical partners at Moorfields Eye Hospital, we are investigating continuum robotic systems and hands-on co-manipulators that do not disrupt the existing clinical workflow. This talk will describe our current state of research on robot design and image-guided navigation.
