UCL awarded UK’s largest award from Science Research Investment Fund

Publication date: Mar 21, 2006 12:55:08 PM

UCL welcomes the news from the DTI that it is to receive £63,889,111 from the Science Research Investment Fund. Provost and President, Sir Derek Roberts says;

“We are delighted that UCL has received the largest award in the country from the Science Research Investment Fund. This award reflects our position as the leading research institution in the UK and shows a clear commitment from Government to investment in scientific excellence.

All universities are now faced with the prospect of a very short submission and completion deadline for proposed projects, however we feel sure that this award will allow UCL to develop many exciting scientific projects.”

This is the second time UCL has received the largest UK award from the Science Research Investment Fund. In 2001, UCL was awarded £46.4 million for research in sciences, engineering and medicine.
