1. Personal Tutor Scheme.
UCL requires all students to have access to personal tutorials throughout their study at UCL and to meet with their personal tutor on a minimum of 5 occasions in Year 1 and 3 occasions in subsequent years. UCL guidance on Personal Tutors may be found at: www.ucl.ac.uk/personaltutors.
In view of the 6 year duration of the MBBS programme and the location of teaching in the later years, arrangements have been put in place to ensure the most appropriate personal tutor support at each stage of undergraduate medical training. A copy of these arrangements can be downloaded here...
2. Student Welfare Clinics
Student Support Clinics are held each morning (usually 9.00am – 12.00pm) shared between the Student Offices at the UCLH, Royal Free and Whittington Campuses.
The majority of appointment times are pre-booked. However, one slot is retained wherever possible for emergency appointments. Students needing an emergency appointment should either contact or be referred to Alison Crook (a.crook@ucl.ac.uk; 020 7679 0857).
Bookings for Student Support Appointments should be made via Medical Student Administration either in person in the Student Office in the Rockefeller Building, or by email to studentwelfare@ucl.ac.uk or by telephoning the Student Support Assistant on 0207 679 0859.
The clinics are staffed by the Faculty Tutors and Medical School Support Tutors, who are available to discuss any academic or pastoral issue of concern to the student or their tutors.
Requests for exceptional leave, interruptions of study and access to financial support from Medical School hardship funds etc could also be discussed at these surgeries. Problems with firm teaching would, normally, first be discussed with the firm lead although continuing problems could then be explored at these sessions.
