PDE systems that are hard to classify

Abstract:

Systems of Quasi Linear First Order p.d.e's are sometimes degenerate in that characteristic surfaces (real or complex) cannot be readily identified. This talk will describe some such systems that arise in applications and discuss some of their properties.

This will be joint work with Andrew Lacey and Sam Howison.
