NOTICES

DEPT TUTOR - DR MARK ROBERTS

1. Choice of options for 2012

Information about this will appear here in the next few weeks.

2. Exams

Please see important information about examinations, referrals, etc in the Information for Honours Students

3. Personal tutors

All current undergraduate students in the Maths department have a personal tutor. Except for first year students (where one of your academic tutors is also your personal tutor) the role of your personal tutor is not to help with mathematical problems, but is someone to whom you can go for general advice/help and who hould be able to provide you with a reference when required. Your personal tutor will also ask to see you periodically to discuss how you are getting on, and to fill in with you a brief report on your progress.

Formal matters such as change of degree, interruption, extenuating circumstances, certification of attendance, change of exam entries, resits, etc, will have to be discussed with the departmental tutor (me), but you may ike to discuss some of these things first with your personal tutor first.

You can find information about who is your personal tutor by looking on your portico record. Please let me know of any problems/discrepancies.4. Departmental staff-student committee

The next meeting will take place the week before reading week. Please contact one of your year representatives if you have any points you would like raised:

Please click here for further information, including list of representatives

This committee provides a forum for students to raise and discuss issues relating to the department, the lectures and the degrees. The last meeting was on Wednesday 23 November 2011 (minutes not yet available)

4. Mathematics Student Library

This is a small library of text-books in the department, available for borrowing, in Room 503. It is run by student librarians and the opening times are published soon after the start of term.
