Studentships and Departmental
Scholarships
A very limited number of EPSRC studentships are available to
candidates from the UK and EU. Competition for these awards is high.
Students are expected to have a first-class four-year Honours degree
(MSci, etc) or equivalent; the absolute minimum requirement is an
upper second.
NERC and Case studentships are
sometimes also available in certain areas of study. These studentships
should be applied for at the beginning of the preceeding academic year.
Please consult with the appropriate graduate supervisor to obtain further
details. Overseas students will usually be expected to show that
they have adequate financial resources for the duration of their studies.
The College itself offers about
20 Graduate School Research Scholarships each year. These awards,
which are worth £10,000 (major) or £3,000 (minor) are open
to both home and overseas students. A booklet Sources of Funding
for Graduate Students published by UCL is available from the Admissions
and General Enquiries Office. This and other useful information can also
be found on the Graduate
School website.
