MAPS Faculty PhesDival - 15th June

A celebration of research, for researchers.

On Wednesday 15th June from 5:30pm, PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and staff from across the faculty will come together in the Main Quad Pavilion to celebrate all things related to Maths and Physical Sciences.

All posters and talks will be observed by our secret judges and there will be a £100 cash prize awarded for best speaker and poster, with smaller prizes for runners-up. The celebrations will end with a quiz and a set from 7-piece hip-hop brass band Dat Brass. The bar will stay open untill 11pm and music will end 11.30pm. Full timings to be released closer to the date.

For a more detailed line up and updates see our Eventbrite page.
Entry is FREE for all MAPS PhD students, post-docs and staff. We hope you can join us!

Applications are still open for budding speakers and poster presenters to represent their department at the PhesDival. It is a great opportunity to practice presentation skills and to show off to your peers the work that you, your group or even your department are involved in. Speakers will be allowed a maximum of 10 minutes stage time to fascinate their audience on research topic from their department. Poster presenters will be expected to man their board during breaks from talks and explain away. Adaptations of existing talks and posters are welcomed, but presenters are reminded of the diversity of the MAPS faculty and that content should be digestible by both Mathematics and Science & Technology Studies students alike!

If you are interested in participating (or if you want to nominate a friend) to champion your department, please get in touch. If you are involved in any other MAPS related project that you think would fit in at the festival (e.g. public engagement / outreach projects, departmental magazines) please don't hesitate to send an email.
