Research

UCL is a global research institution, and all areas of MAPS are world leading in research. In MAPS, we have an annual research income of over £21M.

The Faculty has identified six inter-departmental research themes:

• The Science of the Natural Environment
• Origins
• High End Computing (HEC) and e-Science
• Materials Research
• Science, Technology and Society

We host three inter-Collegiate Research Centres:

• The Thomas Young Centre
• London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN)
• London Taught Course Centre for PhD students in the Mathematical Sciences

and a number of other inter-disciplinary research centres.

MAPS also contributes to College themes on Energy and Biomedical Sciences.
