I am a PhD student in the Pichaud lab, where I study how polarity at the epithelial cell cortex translates into plasma membrane specialisation. In epithelial cells, polarisation of the cortex leads to the formation of specialised plasma membrane domains. In particular, formation of the Adherens Junctions, which are the sites of cell-cell contact, is a key step in specifying cell polarity. In this context, I am particularly interested in how the exocyst, a multimeric protein complex that promotes the tethering of exocytic vesicles, might mediate the translation of cortical polarity into plasma membrane specialisation. My work combines Drosophila genetics, cell and molecular biology, as well as biochemistry and super resolution.
