Laboratory for Language and Speech Diversions (LLSD)

LLSD's Mascot _ 2

The Laboratory for Language and Speech Diversions (LLSD) is a lab group in the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences at University College London.

The purpose of the group is to discuss work on Phonetics & Phonology and various projects which are related to Language and Speech Diversions, such as Slips of the ear, Child language acquisition, Whistled languages, Intoxicated phonology, Alien language game [Participants Wanted], Dialectal divergence, and many others. The lab is open to all staff and graduate students who work on the sounds of language, please get in touch if you would be interested in joining the group.

We try to meet fortnightly during term time, with the first meeting of each term intended to update each other on our current projects and following meetings consisting of short presentations on past and current projects. We also welcome visiting academics within and outside London to present past and current projects at the meetings. We aim to keep the setting of the meetings very informal, as we believe that this generates exciting discussions, invaluable feedback and productive interactions within the group.

Our research is partially funded by the British Academy, the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and the Economic and Social Research Council.
