Degree Programmes
To study physiology at UCL you will enrol in a BSc in Biomedical
Sciences. You may then choose to remain in Biomedical Sciences and
graduate after 3 years with a Degree in Biomedical Sciences. Alternatively, provided you pass the required pre-requisite
courses, you may transfer in your second year to the Physiology BSc Programme.
We also run an Intercalated Degree in Physiology for medical students. What will you do?
The Physiology BSc Programme is designed to provide a strong basic
training in the cellular and systems physiology. In the first two
years, we aim to provide our students with a strong
grasp of the main physiological systems. You will also study some cell
biology and biochemistry as well as a number of options including
genetics, chemistry, psychology, anatomy, developmental biology to name
a few. Students in year 2 may take an optional half unit from outside
the Faculty of Life Sciences, such as a language module. In the third
year and in the Intercalated degree our teaching is research-led and
students will
supplement their studies by reading original research papers and
reviews published in the scientific literature. All final year students
must undertake a laboratory or library research project in physiology.
