Safo Asai (Biology 1996)

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at UCL. There was constant support and encouragement from the staff, who made sure we were never left to feel that we were on our own. I did a summer project in my second year, which gave me the first taste of molecular experiments.

Subsequently I continued my studies in other laboratories. This experience helped me secure my first job as a part of the Technical (BioRobot) team in Qiagen.

Currently, I am a patent administrator at Sharp Laboratories of Europe Ltd. Even though this does not involve laboratory work, my science background enables me to communicate with our researchers. This is essential for providing support to help protect their inventions.

2002-present: Intellectual property administrator & translator. Sharp Laboratories of Europe.

2000-2001: Technical (BioRobot) team, Qiagen K.K.

1998-1999:MSc (Environmental Science) Lancaster University

1996-1998: Research in Molecular Genetics of Maize, University of Oxford

1993-1996: BSc (Biology), UCL
