| Module outline: | Although this module is designed as an introduction for students in the Biological Sciences, it also forms a general introduction to psychology for all students seeking an elective module in psychology. The module consists of a selection of key topics in psychology, with emphasis on biological aspects of psychology and on cognitive psychology. The module also includes an introduction to psychological experiments. By the end of the module students should know what kinds of topics are addressed in psychology, have basic knowledge of several key areas in psychology and have an idea how psychological research is conducted. Topics covered may include: Motivation, Emotion, Hunger, Pain, Stress, Sleep, Action, Love and Attachment, Decision Making, Memory, Cognition, Attention and Perception, Learning, Intelligence, Mental Illness |
