Module outline:This course is an advanced exploration of one or more issues in syntactic theory. We will discuss seminal papers on and current approaches to some issue or issues of current interest in generative grammar. The topic for the course will change from year to year. 
Module aims:The aims of the course are: - To enable students to understand current issues in syntactic theory. - To enable students to evaluate conflicting proposals critically. - To enable them to formulate and test their own proposals.  
Module objectives:Intended learning outcomes: - to give students in depth knowledge of the main phenomena and generalizations that have shaped theorizing on a particular issue or issues - to give students knowledge of the main theoretical proposals to capture these generalizations - to give students an understanding of the current challenges and open problems surrounding the topic or topics addressed in the course
