Module prerequisites: PHOL1001 and PHOL2002, or equivalent i.e. phase 1 MBBS  
Module outline: This is an increasingly important area of physiology, both in terms of basic science and because of its clinical applications. This course addresses fundamental questions in this area with particular emphasis on an integrative or systems approach. A range of scientists and clinicians teach on it, and there are practical sessions in which current techniques for fetal and neonatal monitoring and research are demonstrated. With guided reading, students are encouraged to develop a special interest in one or two specific aspects of this area.
