|Module prerequisites:||Students must have a suitable grounding in Respiratory physiology eg. passed examinations in PHOL 1001, Undergraduate medical Course or equivalent.|
|Module outline:||This course examines the control of breathing particularly in humans, in a wide range of physiological and pathophysiological conditions including exercise, altitude, sleep and asthma. The relationship between respiratory function, structural anatomy and pathological states are explored.|
|Module aims:||- Provide an up to date knowledge of a range of areas of respiratory physiology and pathophysiology - Relate basic scientific information to the applied setting.|
|Module objectives:||- Cover a broad spectrum of respiratory physiology at an advanced level. - Apply basic physiological concepts to interpret and understand the underlying mechanisms involved in the control of breathing with special reference to humans.|
