Module prerequisites:The course is open to any interested student but is not apporpriate for IBSc medical students as it covers the same topics as Year 1 of the BMS course. It helps if you have taken the first year ANAT 1003 but this is not essential provided you are willing to put in a little extra work. Students without any Life Sciences background should contact the course tutor in advance. Year 4 students interested in taking the course should contact the course tutor  
Module outline: ANAT2050 comprises the 2 0.5cu modules ANAT2051 Thorax, Abdomen and Pelvis (Part A)and ANAT2052 Head and Limbs (Part B). While it is expected that most students will take the full unit course it will be possible to take either Part A or Part B alone (each part is a half unit course). Part A is Term 1 of the full unit course and Part B Term 2. It is aimed at Year 2 students but is also open to year 3.

Module objectives:Student objectives to be achieved by the end of the course: To achieve a familiarity with the terminology of human anatomy and embryology. To achieve a strong foundation knowledge of anatomy and development. To understand the basis of common clinical problems relating to human structure and development. Description of the teaching method and number of contact hours: Teaching will be by lectures, supplemented by a number of dissecting room demonstration sessions using human material. These practical sessions double as tutorials, providing students with an opportunity to discuss any problems they are having with the course content. Statement of any prerequisites: The course is open to all interested students (as a full unit or half unit option) but those with little or no background should contact the course organizer in advance
