This one-day course introduces you to memoQ - one of the latest computer-aided translation (CAT) tools that's gaining ground in the industry.
You'll become familiar with the user interface and learn how to use its main functions effectively according to the project you're working on.
A certificate of attendance is available on completion.
This course is run by the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS) at UCL.

Course content and structure
We'll start by focusing on the rationale behind memoQ's structure compared to other CAT software. We'll look at the reasons it's become so popular with translation companies.
We we'll also discuss the basics of translation technology and the components of translation software.
You'll be introduced
to the main functions of the software and will be guided through
processes of translation, as well as building your own resources with
By completing the tasks that follow this process you'll
be able to use memoQ for basic translation projects.
In the final part of the course, we'll:
- import and work on different types of files
- discuss export solutions, compatibility with other software and term bases
- explain the options available in QA, filtering, alignment, predictive actions, statistics, reports etc.
Online group and resources
At the end of the course you'll be added to an online group (available for a week after the course ends) where you can talk about your experience using memoQ and discuss any issues with the other participants and the tutor.
You'll be given resources relating to the software.
