An important collection of the papers of Sir William Ramsay, discoverer of the rare gases and Professor of Chemistry at UCL 1887 to 1913, presented by Lady Tidy and Dr M.W.Travers, Ramsay's collaborator and biographer. It constitutes the first modern professorial collection of research and personal material to come to the Library and contains the original notebooks recording his laboratory experiments.
