A strong collection of early parliamentary papers from 1731 to 1850. Includes one of four sets of c.2,000 papers of 1731-1800 collected by Charles Abbot, Baron Colchester (1757-1829) when Speaker, but not quite identical with the others. This was originally the Speaker's set and contains some unique items. It was deposited on loan by the Stationery Office in 1906, with an incomplete set of Parliamentary Papers 1801-50. Also present are sets of the Journals of the House of Commons and House of Lords .
