Consists of books and papers belonging to R W Chambers, a former Librarian and Quain Professor of
English Language and Literature, including a small but very valuable collection, amongst them an
incunable, concerned with the study of Sir Thomas More, given by Chambers' sister in 1943.
Supplemented in the same year by a bequest from Dr E. Hitchcock, who had worked with Chambers
for many years in the Department of English. Also includes correspondence with friends, scholars
and students, and his unpublished work on the Piers Plowman A-text.
