A comprehensive collection (c.400 vols.)
of the published writings of Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832)
and books and articles written about him, collected to complement the
manuscript collection given by his executor Sir John Bowring in 1849.
The portion of his library on jurisprudence was bequeathed to Sir Edwin
Chadwick (1800-90) who presented it to the College in 1853. A large number
of the books come from the library of C.K. Ogden who had a keen interest
in Bentham.
