Services

For more information about our services please visit our website at: www.ucl.ac.uk/ion/library/

Photocopying & Printing

A black & white photocopier and a laser printer are available. Photocopying and printing is charged at 5p per A4 sheet. All users must comply with copyright regulations, details of which are displayed next to the machines.

Enquiries

We are happy to help with enquiries, either in the library, by post, phone, fax or e-mail. Unfortunately, we are unable to deal with specific medical queries from members of the public. However, Library staff have compiled and maintain a Patient Support Resource, a unique listing of neurological support groups and charities.

IT & Multimedia Provision

We offer computer workspaces for up to 8 users at a time. Each workspace offers access to two networks. The ION networked computers give access to university 'walk-in' databases and electronic journals for registered Library users, please ask at the library desk for login details. The UCLH networked computers give access to the UCLH desktop, accessible only for UCLH staff with a username & password. If you have a laptop which has been registered for access to the ION domain you can use an ION data point at each library desktop. The library is also has a wireless network (EduRoam) for staff & students of UCL.

The library holds a small multimedia collection - including a range of DVDs depicting various neurological conditions - which can be used in the library only. Please ask at the library desk for details.

Document Delivery

Registered users from IoN and NHNN may apply for items to be borrowed or for copies of articles from other libraries via the Inter Library Loan service. There is a charge made per request for this service.

Current Awareness & Literature Searches

Registered users from IoN and NHNN may sign up for these services. Current awareness bulletins will provide a monthly update of new literature published in a chosen field. Literature searches are one-off search conducted by library staff, particularly aimed at infrequent searchers. Application forms are available from the Library.

Training

Registered users from IoN and NHNN may book a session with Library staff who offer expert training and advice on a wide range topics, particularly relating to databases, and electronic information and guides to the major databases are available from our web site.
