| Step 1: Check your funder's policy - Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council |
The BBSRC requires that all peer-reviewed research publications resulting from BBSRC-funded research be made available via UK Pub Med Central.
If the paper was published in a journal that is already participating in UKPMC, then it will be submitted automatically to UKPMC.
If the paper was published in a journal that allows self-archiving, scientists can submit their research papers to UKPMC themselves using the manuscript submission system (UKMSS).
Where journals charge authors a fee for publishing open access articles, this should be identified as a cost via the full economic costing (fEC) payment on a BBSRC grant; staff in BBSRC-sponsored institutes should pay publishing fees from their strategic programme grants. See the BBSRC Grants Guide for guidance on open access charges.
